Bird Dance — The New Big Blue Sky CD is Now Available

Bird Dance, the new Big Blue Sky CD, includes 4 tracks recorded at the Elkader Opera House in October of 2009, and ten cuts recorded in the studio at SoundStrations Studio in La Crosse with Grammy winning engineer Brett Huus. All tunes are Big Blue Sky original material, including two tracks with Jon-Jon Stravers. Jon-Jon had recorded the guitar and vocal tracks in Boise in 2007 a few months before his death. We took those recordings into the studio and added the rest of the Big Blue Sky musicians.

Big Blue Sky started as a father-son duo in the mid-90’s by Jon Stravers Sr and Jon-Jon Stravers. Their musical style includes the influence of folk, bluegrass, blues, and reggae. In their music they seek a closer connection to the planet, and indeed their musical writing comes from the inspiration of wild places and a celebration of our natural heritage and the natural rhythms of life.

This inclusive musical effort has expanded in recent years and continued after the death of Jon-Jon in September of 2007. Their musical events include regluar music cruises on an excursion boat on the Mississippi River, as well as concerts at Coffee Houses, Opera Houses, cultural events, and at various celebrations of river clean-ups in the Midwestern United States.
